Each team put up a good fight to win the tournament. With some excellent goal keeping and scoring opportunities, for example Victoria Bradley of Butterwick primary school scoring 3 hat tricks (9 goals).  We could all see that Carlton Road and Staniland primary had a good scoring record as they won matches 5 and 6 nil, but when these two teams met there was war. Each team tried their very best taking each chance but unfortunately the final score was 0-0.

After a long morning of football we had a lunch break whist we sorted out the teams for the finals and semis. Here’s how the table looked after each team played each other once.

This means that Carlton road had already qualified but the remaining 6 teams had to play each other again to get to the finals. There were three quarter finals each in with an equal chance of qualifying. The first quarter final saw Quadring and Sibsey. Both of them in with a good chance as they both scored the same amount of points in the league table. After 10 minutes of skill full play the score was 1-1, leaving them to do a sudden death penalty shoot out. This ended up with a 1-0 win too Sibsey. The second quarter final was between Staniland and St Nicholas this was the time to forget about the score in the first match and concentrate on this match as Staniland had already beaten them 6-0.  After much improvement they only lost 1-0 but both teams played very well. They last quarter final was between Butterwick and Fishtoft. Fishtoft did very well defending the 2nd place Butterwick but their attackers just sneaked through the Fishtoft defence to score 5 cracking goals.

Now it was the semi finals with Carlton road and Sibsey playing one final and Staniland and Butterwick in another. Both matches were very close but Carlton road only just sneaked a goal passed the Sibsey players, meaning that they were in the finals. Staniland and Butterwick on the other hand were drawing 1-1 for the majority of the match so they got took to penalties. After all the hard work from both teams

It was time for the finals! Sibsey V Butterwick to decide 3rd and 4th place, and Carlton road V Staniland to decide 1st and 2nd place. The tension rose as the starting whistle blew for both matches. It was a strong match for first place, after a strong strike from Carlton road it meant that they were ahead by 1. Staniland came off at half time with their head down but after a bit of encouragement they went back on in a stronger attacking and defensive manner, unfortunately they were not able to score a goal. This meant the Carlton road was the winner. Staniland were runners up. Once again after a tough match third place went to Butterwick and forth place went to Sibsey.

A big well done to all the players! And a big thank you for all the people that helped to run this!
